National Programmes

England’s 15 AHSNs, working collaboratively as the AHSN Network, has identified seven programmes for national adoption and spread to 2020. You can read more about them here.

The Oxford AHSN Clinical Innovation Adoption programme is leading local delivery on five of these – see below – with the remaining two – PReCePT and SIM – led by the Oxford AHSN Patient Safety and Clinical Improvement programme.

 

1 Atrial Fibrillation (AF)

Sharing learning and spreading best practice from across the 15 AHSNs to reduce AF-related strokes.

2 Transfer of Care Around Medicines (TCAM)

Help for patients who need extra support with their prescribed medication after leaving hospital.

3 PINCER

Supporting pharmacists and GPs to reduce medication errors.

Over 200 practices implemented PINCER by November 2019 – 190 pharmacists/GPs trained.

4 ESCAPE-pain

A group rehabilitation programme for people with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis, providing self-management support in the community.

5 Emergency Laparotomy Collaborative (ELC)

Regional collaborative implementing a national programme, bringing together the five acute NHS trusts in the Oxford AHSN region performing emergency laparotomy surgery to adopt six best practice care interventions which are associated with reduced mortality and length of stay.
