[Video] Medical Device Innovation – The Non-injectable arterial connector (NIC)

An inventive NHS team in Kings Lynn has developed three innovations that have been demonstrated to improve patient safety in critical care. The Oxford AHSN is supporting the uptake of these devices across its region and beyond.

The Non-injectable arterial connector (NIC) improves safety for all patients requiring an arterial line in operating theatres and intensive care by preventing drug administration via the wrong route, bacterial contamination of the arterial line and blood spillages. It has been included in the NHS England Innovation and Technology Tariff, essentially making its adoption cost neutral for NHS providers.
